Two wall gate or door hooks probably from the Bethlehem Steel Shipyard, Hoboken.
Object/Artifact
Group of 2 wall gate or door hooks said to come from a building that was on the site of the Bethlehem Steel Shipyard, Hoboken, N.J. The earliest buildings were constructed in 1890 for W. & A. Fletcher. Yellow painted 1/2" diameter iron rod. A 2-1/2" 'ell' hook end on one end of a 21.5" shaft that ends in a closed eye. Attached is a closed eyebolt of same material that was 4" long. In typical use the eyebolt was attached to a door or fence frame and the ell bar hooked into a eyescrew or bolt on the door or gate.
