Ticket: Jersey City, Hoboken and Paterson Street Railway Co., Hoboken, no date, circa 1899-1901. Printed paper, two sides, 13/16" x 2" wide. Perforation on top edge. Engraved by the American Bank Note Co., N.Y. Serial number: 000.
This item may be the stub a larger ticket or possibly a transfer. While the "000" serial number suggests a file or sample copy, the corner is punched which is not untypical for samples.
The front has a depiction of an electric streetcar (or trolley) along with the facsimile signature of "David Young, Pres." The back has the serial number plus the number "89" and text "Good only within 5 cent limits of Hudson County."
While the late date is estimated as 1901, it could be as late as 1907. See notes.

Notes: Jersey City, Hoboken and Paterson Street Railway Company was organized 1899 (incorporated Nov. 1) as a consolidation of several (probably seven) streetcar companies. David Young was the President. North Hudson County Railway Co. acquired control in 1901 and in 1907, Public Service was formed and the company became part of that organization.
