Menu: Thanksgiving Dinner. 301st Guard and Fire Co., Q.M.C. [Quartermasters Corps], U.S.A. [United States Army]; United States Army Piers, Hoboken, New Jersey, Thursday, November 28th, 1918. Single folio printed cardstock, 5-1/4" wide x 7" high, [4] pp. (Pages [2], [4] blank.)
The cover has a full color patriotic vignette of a honor guard, Navy and Army, flanking a nurse in white uniform and headdress. It is embossed as can be seen on page [2].
The holiday would have had a special significance as the Armistice that was declared on November 11, 1918 ending World War I hostilities, had occurred less than three weeks earlier. That the war was over meant that the role of these servicemen had changed as the Port of Embarkation became the Port of Debarkation for the forces returning home from Europe.
The menu offered was traditional and simple. Respecting the masculine nature of the attendees, it included cigars and cigarettes following dessert.
