Newspaper clippings regarding the Hoboken Bicentennial Ball, May 24, 1976. Two captioned photos as published in The Hudson Dispatch, one dated in holographic ink as above. The two items are the same size and have been tipped together back to back.
Donor Vinnie Wassman was the chairman of the Hoboken Bicentennial Celebration (see objects 2010.013.0002 for a Bicentennial Quilt donated by him) and is seen in one photo.
Both photos were taken at the Ball held at the Stevens Center on the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology. The date of May 24th was a Monday therefore it is likely that the Ball itself was on a Saturday, which would have been May 22. All the individuals seen are in costume, apparently Colonial.
Clipping 1: Star Performance - Bicentennial chairman Vincent Wassmann (sic), who didn't bring his white horse to the ball, and committee member Terry Sasso (left) chat with Sue Spinelli [Spinella?], ticket chairman, about the quilt made by Mrs. Rose Trachtenberg's art classes at Hoboken High School. Mrs. Ann Liguori wone the quilt which was raffled off.
(The high school quilt is in background.)
Clipping 2: Dancing the Night Away - Hoboken Bicentennial Ball chairman Frances Ciriello had a whirl with committee member William Van Dorn Saturday night at Stevens Center. It was a fun night for 600 persons.
