Reverse has holographic pencil (probably contemporary except for "in Hoboken") along with a previous news service stamp; stamp of Culver Service and a printed file label for Culver. Pershing is at center of the three men; Wanamaker, a member of the reception committee welcoming the victorious general back to America, is to his right. Other people are not identified. The location is on the docks between piers 3 and 4 of the U.S. Army Transport Services (at what was then a Port of Debarkation and formerly the Port of Embarkation.) This event was the return of Pershing aboard the U.S.S. George Washington from Europe after leading the American Expeditionary Forces in World War I. Note: newsreel cameras; a few women in uniform saluting the general as he passed. Wanamaker headed the organization for the victory parade in New York City for the doughboys as well as Pershing.
