Photograph
Digital photos, two, of the M.S. Oslofjord of the Norwegian-America Line seen listing in a drydock, Bethlehem Steel Hoboken Shipyard, no date, about January 10, 1957. Original black-and-white prints 4" x 5"; reverse of each was blank. Photographer not indicated. Tiffs media archive.
The vessel was the third Oslofjord, an ocean liner - cruise ship in NAL service 1949-1969 (1969-1970: it was the S.S. Fulvia.) It did have a major refit in 1957 to add stablilizers (another major refit was done in the 1960s in Europe), but it is not indicated if this was the work that the vessel was undergoing. The vessel to the right is the Mabay, a cargo ship of the United Fruit Company, 1948-1965.
A dry dock in raised position is seen at the left in photo 1. The dry dock that the vessel occupies has not been raised.
