====
The tool belonged to Peck who was carpenter through-out his adult life and may have used it at some point in his carpentry profession and employee of the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad in Hoboken. His role in later life was as a foreman for the railroad with an attribution (unconfirmed) as Superintendent of Bridges and Docks of the Eastern Division. While he did not live in Hoboken, he is known to have worked here and one address associated with that work is 20 Hudson Place.
It was also used in his later years in his model building hobby and remained among items found in his personal tool chest at his death. See biography for Calvin Peck for more details.
