Single leaf lined notepaper, printed letterhead, 5-7/8" wide x 9" high; [2] pp. Letter to "Mamma" from her daughter "Frances" who had just arrived on a train (likely the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad) from Chicago (although she and "Carl" apparently departed from some point in Wisconsin.) They were leaving on a "boat" tomorrow for Berlin, Germany (apparently sailing on a Hamburg-American or Bremen {North German Lloyd] Line steamship.) The hotel at Third and Hudson Streets is depicted on the notepaper.
