Short notice: Ron Heuer, exhibit guest, gave museum copy of North German Lloyd passenger list dated September 19, 1888. His grandfather, Frederich Heuer, left Bremen on the S.S. Lahn for America on that date. His parents met on the ship and were married two years later in New York City. Article follows on description of S.S. Lahn of that line and their decor.
Restoration of 335 Washington St. storefront by owner Ed Carcich. Building was once Anthony J. Volk Funeral Parlor which operated here before moving to 631-633 Washington St. in the 1890's. Jacob Volk, father of Anthony, was a Hoboken undertaker until his death in 1874.
