Photograph taken by Robert Foster (initials "RF" are on back.) Other markings on back "59%" and "3 col" indicating its mark-up for use in a publication; crop marks on front. The firemen are not identified.
The fire was at the former Railway Express Agency freight building that ran along the south side of Observer Highway from just north of Washington Street to Park Avenue. This building was part of the New Jersey Transit Hoboken Terminal train yard (previously the Lackawanna or Erie-Lackawanna.) According to the photographer, the view is southeast and the section seen in this photo was near Bloomfield St.
Photograph is one of several in this accession that were discarded file photos considered or used for publication in The Hoboken Reporter newspaper from circa 1983-1988.
