Scope and ContentAdvertisement: Chocolat-Menier is universally acknowledged... Printed advertisement clipped from unstated American magazine, no date, (1895). 2-3/4" x 4" high. Addresses at bottom: Menier, American Branch, No. 86 West Broadway, N.Y. City, or 59 Wabash Ave., Chicago. (Full text is in notes.) Depicted at the top left is the poster artwork of a french girl writing with a chocolate bar on a wall "Drink Chocolat Menier." It is a version of the iconic Firmin Bouiset poster of 1893. (See archives 2010.007.0162 for a modern reproduction of the 1893 edition of this lithograph which has her writing just "Chocolate Menier.") Chocolat Menier did have U.S. warehouse and distribution operations in Hoboken, earliest date not yet established, but around this time.
