Log Cabin Syrup Recipes. Issued by General Foods Corporation, no place, no date, ca. 1935-1945. Pamphlet; die cut printed cover in shape of the typical log cabin shaped metal container used by the company for retail sale; with text leaves stapled in side; 3-7/8" high x 4-3/8" wide, 14 pp. plus covers. (Inside front cover is page [1]; pg 14 is inside back cover; outside covers not in pagination.)
The syrup itself was made in Hoboken during this time period at the Log Cabin Products Division of General Foods. The 28 recipes go beyond a breakfast menu and includes desserts as well as a cream sauce and mayonnaise. They incorporate into the ingredients other brand name General Foods products such as Calumet Baking Powder, Swans Down Cake Flour, Post 40% Bran Flakes and Grape-Nuts.
Also found are Baker's Coconut, both Premium Shred and Southern Style, which were made in Hoboken by another part of General Foods, the Franklin Baker Division.
Product's full name was Towle's Log Cabin Syrup as stated on back cover where it also stated - "Log Cabin Syrup is a product of General Foods Corporation." This recipe book was probably issued from some corporate offices of General Foods, typically New York. On page [1], the inside of the front cover, is a code at the bottom "(1037)". If a date code then it is possibly October 1937 which would be appropriate for the month as a fall foliage motif decorates the inside covers.
