The Lipton Magazine. Winter 1989. Published by Thomas J. Lipton, Inc., Englewood Cliffs, N.J. Booklet, 8-1/2" x 11" high, 28 pp. including covers; color cover, rest is in black ink; photo illustrated.
House publication for company staff and probably the investment community. Lipton was based in Hoboken until 1963.
This issue commemorates the centennial of the 1889 founding of Lipton's American business. While the historical article does mention on page 5 that Lipton moved in 1919 to a combination plant and headquarters in Hoboken, it is the only mention of this city except that sales doubled in its first decade in Hoboken (probably due to Prohibition.) Topics covered are mostly later products and innovations such as the Flo-Thru Tea Bag introduced in 1952.
It also covers Lawry's Food and devotes pages 23-27 to Knox Gelatine which was marking its 100-year anniversary in 1990. This article has useful history and photographs including a 1906 photograph of "A Warship That Will Fly", Charles B. Knox's airship, 'Gelatine', a 41-foot dirigible.
