Letter by Cheryl Petrignani Bracht, (niece of John and Paula Schisano) of Manalapan, N.J., written May 15, 2010, noted:
The small photograph is of my uncle John Schisano. My mother Geraldine Petrignani's sister Paula [Riccio] and husband John owned Central Market in the 1940s and 1950s. I am not sure of the exact location. It may have been Hudson or River Street. The store mad and sold Italian hero sandwiches, salads, fruit baskets and other items.
I do remember my Aunt telling quite often of stars Marlon Brando and Eva Marie Saint and the crew from the movie On The Waterfront buying Italian hero sandwiches and salads there while filming in the area.

[Address is between Garden and Bloomfield Streets; next door was a restaurant where significant scenes were filmed for the motion picture "On the Waterfront." The location was later Frankie & Johnnie's On the Waterfront restaurant and at time of cataloging known as Dino's and Harry's.]
