Photograph
Black-and-white photo negative of a Fourteenth St. trolley shed and ferry building at Hudson River, Hoboken, no date, circa 1900-1910.
Copy negative, 2" x 2-7/8". Photographer or other source not indicated. Reference print on file.
View is east from Hudson St. of the area called "Ferry Approach" which was the easterly extension of Fourteenth St. from Hudson Street. The Fourteenth Street Ferry Terminal (Hoboken Ferry Company which would have been under the ownership of the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad in this period) is seen with streetcar passenger shed at center. A sign at the left states "Private Entrance" which was on the "Ferry Approach" about two hundred feet east from Hudson St. (the property as just north of the abutting W. & A. Fletcher Co. shipyard.) The left streetcar has "Washington" [Street, Hoboken] as the destination sign. The two men left of center are seen surveying with a level mounted on a tripod.
