Scope and ContentConductor's ticket blank, Erie-Lackawanna Railway, between Hoboken and Chicago, no date, circa 1968-1969. Form CS. Single sheet, bond weight paper, printed one side, 8-1/4" high x 5-1/4" wide folded to 2-5/8" wide and perforated at fold. Reverse of unfolded sheet is blank. A ticket that would have been sold onboard a long-distance train that operated to or from Hoboken. The conductor would make many punches to record information. When separated at the fold, one half was the passenger receipt and the other the conductor's stub. Such a ticket could also be used for travel to or between the many intermediate stops on the lines, so Hoboken or Chicago was not necessarily the origin or destination of a rider's passage. Note the change in the name from 'Railroad' to Railway'; this took effect in the spring of 1968. Long distance service ended in the first week of January 1970. Note also that Donald Campbell was listed as Manager, Suburban Traffic, and who was in this position as least by 1967. See notes. Also notable is that New York is no longer the eastern terminus for the trip as the Lackawanna Ferry service had been discontinued in 1967.
