Satellite photograph of northeast Hoboken, taken ca. 2000-2001, copyright 2003 GlobeXplorer, AirPhotoUSA. Color print, 20" square, drymounted on foam core board.
Coordinates and other technical details related to the image are not present.
View (with Hudson River as the bottom) is southwest. A summer or early fall photo as seen by the full tree foliage. Centered on the northern piers including Lipton Tea or The Tea Building, The Shipyard (former Bethlehem Steel Shipyard site) and the former Maxwell House Coffee plant.
Copyright date is presumed to be the date the print was ordered, not taken, and made on demand. Photo was probably taken in 2001, but may be from 2000. Some elements in the photo do provide dating assistance: Shipyard Park is seen completed, but to the south of it (left) is the open site where the residential building to be called The Independence is yet to be constructed. Site preparation is not underway (i.e. heavy machinery, soil removal or pile driving) and while a few construction trailers are on the eastern part of the site, a parking lot is on the northern half. The Maxwell House Coffee factory complex is still intact (demolition 2004.)
Left: Elysian Park, Tenth Street
Top: Colombus Park, Adams St.
Right: Lincoln Harbor (note NY Waterways ferry outbound from Lincoln Harbor), Weehawken Cove
Bottom: Hudson River, north piers (condition state is notable as none have yet been rehabilitated.)
