B+W photo, hand-colored, of United Decorating Co. decor for dance or event, Hoboken, n.d., ca. 1940s.
Photograph
Black-and-white photo, hand colored, of United Decorating Co. decor for a dance or event, Hoboken, no date, circa 1940s. 8" x 10" print with partial coloring. Photographer is not indicated, probably William Kirchgessner. Note company name in image at lower right. Reverse has block inkstamp of the company.
While some partial words are seen, they do not reveal the type of event such as ball, dance or celebration. Six chairs, lined up, and a piano are on the stage (possibly for a band?) Note that chairs for seating are not seen.
The location is apparently a hall (possibly a gymnasium with a stage at one end? - not a temporary stage - note heating radiator at left side.) Balcony level seen at left. The panels with vignettes of female heads were standard stock of the company. Fringed ceiling decor and elaborate panels at the front of the stage.
Photo was part of promotional images and stock reference once used by the company.
