Scope and ContentStock: Hoboken & Hudson River Turnpike Company, Hoboken, 185_, ca. 1857-1859. Partially issued certficate for capital stock.; signed by President J.A. Gautiss(?) and Secretary Lucius S. Comstock. Printed form two sides, 6-1/8" high x 9-3/8" wide with irregularly trimmed left edge. "Incorporated by the State of New Jersey." Shares were priced at fifty dollars each. All areas or lines on printed form that were intended for entry including certificate number and number of shares are blank except for the two signatures. Creation date is unknown: rudimentary research has indicated that the company operated from 1857 to 1861. In 1861, it appears to have become part of of the New York & Fort Lee Railroad Co. which probably acquired it for the right-of-ways.
