Photograph
Sepia-tone photo of sailors gathered at a piano and singing, Hoboken Y.M.C.A., Hoboken, no date, ca. 1942-1946. 5" x 7" wide print. Photographer not indicated. Reverse is blank. None of the individuals are identified.
The old upright piano is being played by a man in a white shirt (probably a civilian) with nine men in uniform standing around the back and sides. The service has not been determined, but it was likely the Coast Guard.
While the image appearance and quality may make it appear as if it is from World War I time period, the interior with the window pane detail and curtains strongly suggest it is at the YMCA at 13th and Washington Streets and thus from World War II era.
