Souvenir program: Second Anniversary Exercises of the Railroad Department, Young Men's Christian Association, Hoboken, New Jersey, Thursday, November 5th, 1891 at 8 P.M. Companies Contributing to the Department: Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad, United States Express, and Hoboken Ferry Companies. Booklet, 6-1/2" wide x 9-5/8" high, 24 pp. (plus one inserted leaf not in pagination between pp. 8-9) plus covers. Trimmed fore-edge.
The organization was founded in 1889. The program for this celebration is on pages 11 and 13. Text pages are on the verso with all other pages including inside covers having advertisements for railroad suppliers and other enterprises (not imaged), none of whom were from Hoboken (the ads are interesting for the line illustrations or cuts themselves.)
Included is text about the organization, a record of the previous year, and schedule for the next year: Course of Entertainments (lectures, perfomers, etc.); Receptions; Special - New Year's Day dinner; Educational Classes.
Also noteworthy is that: Special Meetings will be conducted as follows: FOR MEN ONLY, at 4 P.M. in the Lecture Room, D.L. & W. R.R. Staion.; A MASS MEETING To which all are invited, will be held in the Baptist Church, corner of Bloomfield and Ninth Street, at 7:30 P.M. sharp. (This was the newly opened First Baptist Church building.)
