Manual of the Mother Church. The First Church of Christ, Scientist. In Boston, Massachusetts. By Mary Baker Eddy. Eighty-ninth Edition. Boston: Published by Allison V. Stewart, 1914.
Small 8vo brown cloth (beveled edge boards; all edges gilt), 138 pp. Printed bookplate.
Considered as an artifact and thus an example of published works that its reading room would have typically offered. The Hoboken church had a public Reading Room for many decades as an important part of the church's activities. While labeled as Book No. 1, it is probably copy 1 rather the first book placed in the Reading Room collection.
This was a branch church of the Mother Church and was formally incorporated in 1912.
Printed bookplate on front pastedown:
Book No. 1 [number handwritten]
