DescriptionGeorgia Children's Memorial Flag. Produced in Rome, Georgia, September, 2001. White cotton sheeting 15'-8" wide by 7'3" high. Decorated by hand with water-based tempera paint. Created by Amy Young, art teacher, the students of Glenwood Primary School, teachers and residents of Rome in memory of the victims of September 11, 2001. Image attached to this record was taken in Rome, Sept. 27, 2001 when the flag was new. The flag was on display outdoors on Pier A park from Nov. 2001 for an unstated period. It was later moved to interior display at Hoboken City Hall. The fabric has become gray, the tempera paints have faded. Some minor edge tears are evident. The flag has not yet been opened and examined in full by the museum.
