Reverse has modern pencil text: Willow + 17th St. In this series of photos, 2011.048.0042 to 2011.048.0059, photo 2011.048.0045 has a 1927 New Jersey automobile license plate which can be read and photo 2011.048.0058 has a poster for an event dated as Saturday, September 24th which corresponds to a Saturday in 1927. The railroad crossing signs are for tracks of the New York Central Railroad, Erie Railroad and the primary right-of-way holder, New Jersey Junction Railroad. Note the crossing gates are in the down position. A left detail shows a sign on the control tower: New York Central R.R. Freight Service. North of the freight tracks on the west side of Willow: Lehigh Coal Supply Co.; Masons Supplies. On the east side of Willow, north of the freight tracks was Charles S. Schultz & Sons, Fire Brick. Street level streetcar or trolley tracks are Public Service Coordinated Transport. Note trolley No. 1366 with a Weehawken destination sign although it was on the west (or southbound) track which usually was inbound to Hoboken. This photo is from an accession group that consists of photographs from Hoboken Police Department records. Discarded in the 1990s, the original documentary purpose of this photo is not stated or apparent.
