Notes: 2012.007.0072; text page [1] on wartime considerations. Will we keep warm this winter? The answer is YES, if everyone cooperates and does his part. The American railroads are doing their part now by speeding along their ribbons of steel, long trains of heavily loaded cars with the coal that will pro- vide the power, the heat, and the light to keep your home warm and comfort- able this winter. The Lackawanna is closely identified with the transportation of coal because the railroad had its origin in the early days of Anthracite mining. Lacka- wanna's modern equipment and facili- ties are geared to meet the needs of our nation in times of war and peace. Each year thousands of cars loaded with coal travel over the Lackawanna to im- portant centers throughout the United States and Canada direct from the great Anthracite fields that lie along its tracks. A great army of railroad workers are "keeping 'em rolling" day and night. They take pride in the part they are playing . . . proving their loyalty with all-out service in the nation's drive for Victory.
