Sepia-tone photos, 3, of members of the Active Boat Club with family on an outing, n.p., n.d., ca. 1920s.
Photograph
Sepia-tone photos, three, of members of the Active Boat Club (of Hoboken) with family on an outing, no place, no date, circa 1920s.
Digital files only. Original prints, 2-1/2" x 3-1/2"; reverse of photo 2 blank, but has two notes on image; others have ink notes on reverse (made by a member of the Kirchner family.) Photographer not indicated. Tiffs media archive.
The group is likely on a river bank; one man (probably Jacob "Jack" Kirchner) is seen wear the rowing shirt with an "A" of the Active Boat Club of Hoboken.
Photo 1: six men posed with two holding boat oars and one wearing the "A" shirt.
Reverse is marked in ballpoint ink: Pete Heinz, Dad, Mr. Gunther, Active Boat Club [although this photo does not indicate which man is which, but based on other photos some tentative identifications can be made: photo 2 identifies Pete Heinz as the man at the left; it is believed that Dad (Jacob (Jack) Kirchner?) is the man wearing the "A" shirt who is seen again in Photo 3 group, and Gunther is the man to Dad's left, he is seen again in Photo 3.]
Photo 2: a larger group of 15 people are posed in the same location; women, men, a boy and a girl are all seen eating corn on the cob. At the left edge is a partial view of another child.
Marked on the photo is "Mom" indicating the first woman from the left among the standing group; based on other identifications from donor she is probably Inga Olsen Kirchner. "Pete" indicates the first man (third person) from the right in the standing group. This is the Pete Heinz seen in Photo 1. Back of print is blank.
No other identifications in this photo have been made.
Photo 3: Three men posed in the foreground with a woman passing in the right background.
Reverse had ballpoint ink notations: Dad, Pete Heinz, Gunther. (It is probable that the identifications are left to right.) The woman is the background is apparently the "Mom" (Inga Olsen Kirchner?) marked in Photo 2 - she has the same dress.
----
A table is seen in photos 1 and 3 and a cooking grill (roasting the corn?) is seen in all photos.
