Castle Point Coal Company
Best Red and White Ash Coal
Office: Newark St. near the Ferry
Wharf and Yard: Foot of Sixth Street, Hoboken, N.J.
The company was founded by Edwin A. Stevens II and others associated with him in the family businesses. "Castle Point" was the Hoboken site of the Stevens home. The wharf location would have been on the Hudson River just below Castle Point. The company was apparently associated with one of the Stevens family businesses at that time, the Hoboken Ferry Company. It would likely have been a supplier of coal for the ferries as well as to the new Stevens Institute of Technology.
