Object/Artifact
Trade card: Compliments of Kaufmann & Schierenbeck, Grocers, Cor[ner]. Bloomfield & Tenth Streets, Hoboken, N.J. No date, circa 1890-1910. Card stock, debossed, gothic arch or shield shaped, 4-1/4" wide x 4-1/8" high; printed both sides.
Front is a color lithograph of sentimental scene through a trefoil window with berry vine wrapped around it and a bird in the distance: debossing of the foliage and outline. Back has the text in black type.
While classified as a trade card for the advertising, its intended use may multiple: as a book mark for a hymnal or bible; reward or commemorative for a school or church event (note the blank bar at the bottom which looks like it was space left to be written in.)
The specific address is not given, probably 1001 Bloomfield which was the northeast corner. This address has been the location of several similar businesses including Futterer's. It should be noted that there the southeast and southwest corners of same intersection have storefronts which could also have been its location.
