Real photo postcards: 3-3/8" wide x varying height, 5-3/8" to 5-7/16" high; AZO stamp block (four squares). Photographer indicated (by Hans) on first item as Commercial Photo Studio, 306 Washington St., Hoboken, N.J. 1918 City Directory. Unused and unposted. None of the people have been identified. The photographer was a Charles Erna who was known to have been at 306 Washington Street and associated with this studio. The interior backdrop is the same seen in ones that can be definitely attributed to him or his studio. Dating is suggested by dates of use for this particular AZO stamp block, but that is not definitive. (There are sources that have documented this particular stamp in use briefly about 1907-1910 but it states "name and address here" and ones from 1926+ uses only "address".) Clothing fashions suggest earlier part of the date range. Photo postcard 1: girl in white dress with floral bouquet flanked by mother and younger brother; probably first communion or confirmation. Back of this card is only one marked in the group by Hans with photography studio information. The AZO block is imaged for this card only as typical of all in this group. Photo postcard 2: young woman seated on stool holding a large bouquet of roses. Photo postcard 3 (two copies): girl in white dress holding floral bouquet in one hand and a catechism and rosary with the other; floral arrangement in container on wicker table; first communion. Photo postcard 4: two young girls posed with baby (boy?) seated on tabouret table between them. Girls have the same floral print dresses, bobbed hair styles. ---- rppc
