Scope and ContentTicket sample: Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad monthly commutation ticket between Dover and New York, for July 1946. Form MC. Orange card stock, printed in black and red, two sides, 2-1/2" x 5-3/4" wide; ttwo conductor's punches; inkstamped on reverse as noted below. Diagonal security lines overprinted on ticket portion with station name "W. Paterson" in parentheses near the left side. Inkstamp on back: Sample May 27 1946 Rand McNally & Co. This ticket was also valid for passage between New York and Montclair, Bernardsville or Mt. Tabor (Via Morristown). Usually this was a two-piece ticket with the right part being the monthly ticket and the other the agent's stub. There is no evidence of perforations at the short edges. Tickets to or from New York required taking the railroad's ferry to or from Hoboken where the Lackawanna Terminal was located. The ferry fare was included in price of fares to or from New York.
