Trade card: Edwin C. Burt, Fine Shoes. Compliments of W.C. Bredehorn, 250 Washington St., Hoboken, N.J. No date, circa 1879-1884. Chromoithographed card, 2-15/16" high x 4-5/8" wide; imprinted front and back for Bredehorn.
The art on the front is a pastoral fantasy of a boy (pixie or fairy) blowing milkweed with a large bee above and bird to the right. A Victorian trading card often issued as a series (not indicated on this card) and collected. The Burt company issued a number of them.
The "Compliments" lines are imprinted on the front at the upper right corner. The address of 250 Washington was an old (pre-1892) street number.
Text on reverse as below plus a depiction of the medals won by Burt at various international exhibitions, the latest dated 1878. Burt died in 1884, but the business carried on.
