Notes: 2012.001.0133 Selected text FIFTH INSTALMENT RECEIPT. No. D 116 Hudson & Manhattan Railroad Company Purchase and Syndicate Agreement HARVEY FISK & SONS hereby acknowledge the receipt of [ink] Twenty five hundred [printed] Dollars in payment of the fifth instalment, being 10 per cent., and making, with the previous instalments, SIXTY-FIVE per cent, in all, upon a subscription for [ink] twenty five thousand [printed] Dollars of the bonds and 25 per cent, of that amount of the common stock mentioned in "Hudson & Manhattan Railroad Company Purchase and Syndicate Agreement," dated March 1st, 1906. The holder hereof [ink] S.W. Fordyce [printed] will be entitled to such bonds and stock on completing payment therefor, in accordance with and subject to the provisions of said agreement. On payment of a further instalment upon said subscription this receipt, properly endorsed, must be exchanged for an appropriate new receipt. The interest evidenced hereby is transferable only by surrender hereof, with proper endorsement, at the office of the undersigned, No. 62 Cedar Street, New York City, and issue of appropriate new receipt or receipts. The issue of this receipt or of any receipt in lieu hereof shall not discharge or diminish any obligation of the original subscriber arising upon said subscription. Neither this assignment nor any transfer pursuant thereto discharges or diminishes any obligation of the original subscriber for the bonds and stock within mentioned under the agreement within mentioned but the transfered by accepting this assignment or the new receipt so to be issued, assumes and agrees to perform every such obligation of the undersigned, original or assumed.
