To the Mayor and Council of the City of Hoboken, Hoboken, N. J. Gentlemen: - We herewith hand you our bid for furnishing the City of Hoboken, N. J. with one Studebaker Pneumatic Flushing machine at Nine Hundred ($900.00) Dollars, delivered in the City of Hoboken, N. J. Type of machine we propose to furnish is as per cut [not present with this copy] herewith attached and as per specifications given below. TANK HAS WATER CAPACITY OF 600 GALLONS, is tested to 100 lbs. pressure per square inch and provided with pop valve. Manhole underneath large compartment, bulkheads and all important riveting is done with a double row of rivets. IT IS ALSO EQUIPPED WITH TWO PRESSURE GAUGES, one at the rear end for convenience in filling and charging, the other at the front end on the foot-board in plain view of the operator. WATER GAUGE IS ATTACHED TO THE REAR END of the tank, enabling the operator to determine when tank is full. GEAR IS TRUCK PLATFORM STYLE, having solid collar Concord axles, Archibald wheels, 4 x 3/4 in. tire, rims riveted on each side of spokes. NOZZLES ARE STUDEBAKER PATENT, adjustable, made of polished brass. PIPE ON TANK IS SO ARRANGED THAT THE AIR IS SEALED at all times so long as a sufficient amount of water is left in the pipes to fill them, even though the bottom of the tank be uncovered. FILLING OF TANK IS FROM UNDERNEATH between the rear wheels, through two pipes, which also act as discharge pipes, the one being attached to the underside of the tank in front of the center, the other in the rear of center. (continued) Sheet #2 CHECK VALVE is located in the lower inlet pipe so as to be always covered with water. ON THE REAR END OF THE INTAKE PIPE to which the hose is attached for filling is a chamber with a screen inside, thoroughly screening all water before it passes into the tank. This can easily be taken out and cleaned. VALVES IN DISTRIBUTING PIPE ARE OPERATED with foot levers from drivers* seat. No hand levers are used in operating the Studebaker Plusher. FLUSHER IS EQUIPPED with foot lever brake. REGULAR PAINTING IS GREEN TANK, RED GEAR, NEATLY STRIPED. Special colors can be furnished if desired. The Flusher described above is thoroughly guaranteed by Studebaker against defective workmanship or material, for one year from date of purchase. Yours truly, THE STUDEBAKER CORPORATION OF AMERICA, NEW YORK VEHICLE BRANCH, [signed] H. B. Edwards MANAGER ==== Status: OK Status By: dw Status Date: 2012-10-22
