Carriage or automobile lamp, Champion Steel Lamp, kerosene or oil, ca. 1907-1920. Manufactured by Dietz, Patented approved Jan 22, 1907, N.Y. Relief lettering on back of lantern.
Steel and iron with glass lense. Lamp, rolled and stamped metal, without mounting bracket: 11-1/2" high x ca. 7" wide x 8" deep. Black painted finish, dulled. Fresnel lense 5-1/2" diameter in hinged window.
Mounting bracket: u-shaped yoke to fit in bracket holes on side of lamp; ca. 5/8" diameter forged steel; 7-1/4" high x 6-1/2" wide with offset mounting arm on right side connecting to flat mounting flange, 4-3/8" high x 1-1/8" wide x 7/16" thick, to hold bracket 5-1/2"off surface on the vehicle. Two 3/8" diameter mounting holes. All black finish, worn.

Some rust areas especially at top of lamp where heat would apply to metal and paint.
