Reward of Merit, twenty: Hoboken Public School, No. 2, Female Department. Roll of Honor. Alice Ketcham. Various dates, 1886 to 1889. Printed heavy cardstock, 1-13/16" high x 2-1/2" wide.
Inscribed ink name of student Alice Ketcham and date. No notation for specific award is stated which is typical. Reverse of all are blank except those for 1889 which have the written name, S. Schrader.

Rewards of Merit were commonly used throughout the nineteenth century. While generic versions were commercially available for purchase and use, those here were apparently printed locally with the possibility that they were printed at this school or another one. The slight variations in trimmed size, changing color stock and the occassionally misprinted ones suggest amateur printers.
