Apparently this was a related or subsidiary company of the W. & A. Fletcher Company that had been based in Hoboken since 1890. The "North River" part of the name of this company apparently came from "The North River Iron Works" which was the original name of the main site of W. & A. Fletcher Company (although it had other business names prior to the one it is now known as) from the time it was founded in 1853. It was still in use as the company's name as seen on its stock certificate - see object 2006.031.0001.
This stock was issued to Andrew Fletcher, Jr. who was in the family business and succeeded his father as President and Treasurer when Fletcher, Sr. died on August 7, 1905. Henry N. Fletcher, another son of Andrew, Sr., served as Secretary upon their father's death and later became Vice President.
The son of Andrew, Jr.(who dropped the Jr. after his father's death) was also known as Andrew, Jr. (he would have been Andrew Fletcher III). He also became an employee and as of 1923 was Secretary of the firm.
