AMERICAN YOUTH ARRIVES IN U.S.
HOBOKEN, N.J. -- Hans Jager, 9 years old, shown with an identification card around his neck, as he arrived at Hoboken, N.J., unaccompanied, on the Holland-American liner Rotterdam, Dec. 2. The youth, born in the U.S., has been in Germany for the past four years. His father is still in Germany. He will live with his mother in New Rochelle, N.Y.

His full name as seen on the card was Werner Hans Hager. His mother was Ella Hager. A different published photo with caption, taken by the Associated Press, is seen in an attached reference image.
It is not discussed in the caption for this photo, but he was one of 900 Jewish refugees arriving on this ship. See related photo of another passenger on the same ship, 2015.001.0013, in which the caption mentions that 900 Jewish refugees were on that ship (subject of that photo was not one of the refugees at that time.)
