HOBOKEN HONORS 100 YEARS OF BASEBALL
HOBOKEN, N.J. -- Hoboken paused for a baseball centennial celebration June 19, marking the first game of organized baseball reportedly played in this country. It was the 100th anniversary of the game in which the New York Nine trounced the Knickerbockers Club of New York, 23-1, in 1846. Field is now the site of the largest coffee plant in the world -- the Maxwell House Division of General Foods Corporation.
