Scope and ContentMagazine advertisement: New York Harbor. Maxwell House Coffee full-page ad. No date (1947 stated by donor.) Circa 10-1/2" x 13-11/16" high. An ad in the " Part of the American Scene " campaign. Main artwork is a painting by Ferdinand E. Warren, A.N.A. Notable is the depiction of the products in the lower right where it is stated: NEWS! Now in Instant form too! (A labeled jar of instant coffee is shown along with a can and jar of the roasted coffee.) Magazine not indicated, probably Life or Fortune. (Reverse is a Buick automobile ad.) ---- Maxwell House Coffee operated a factory in Hoboken when this ad was published. It was one of four U.S. plants operated by its owner, General Foods Corp., and was at the time the largest coffee processing plant in the world. Ad promoted the two radio show that they sponsored in this period: "Maxwell House Coffee Time" starring George Burns and Gracie Allen (ran Sept. 20, 1945 to June 23, 1949.)
