Photograph
Sepia-tone photographs, two, of a woman, a member of or related to Sanntrock family of Hoboken; Hoboken, no date, circa 1900-1910.
3-7/8" x 6-1/2" high prints on photographer's 6" x 8" mount with embossed decoration. Photographs taken by Dimmers Photo Studio, 1018 Washington St., Hoboken, N.J. (imprint in brown on front.) Reverse blank. Each print with original plain glassine sleeve imprinted with studio logo.
She is not identified at present. The subject is possibly Erna Sanntrock (born 1881) (or less likely based on facial character, her sister Louise, born 1879), as this woman appears to be early to mid twenties in age and would be appropriate in the estimated date range for this photo.
Photos taken in same session as she is seen wearing same dress and jewelry.
Photo 1: woman without hat
Photo 2: woman without hat; note the difference in the background drop from photo 1 - the background was changed or her position was shifted so that the background was lighter and silhouetted her hat.
====
From a group of photographs in this accession related to the Sanntrock family which lived in Hoboken from the later part of the 19th century until the early 20th century. Consisting of images of first and second generation German immigrants, the group reflects their German heritage and culture in fashions and content (some photographs are from Germany, apparently of relatives.)
