Photograph
Cabinet photograph of a woman posed in photographer's studio, a member of or related to the Sanntrock family of Hoboken; Newark, N.J., no date, circa 1897-1905.
4-1/4" x 6-1/2" high embossed mount. Photograph taken by M.[Morris] Yogg, Artistic Photography, 162 Springfield Avenue, Newark, N.J. (imprint on front lower and on back.)
She is not identified. Dark dress with a ruffled lace collar and wearing a triple-strand pearl choker necklace.
Dating is based on Saretzky listing for photographer Yogg at the address on mount. (Yogg was apparently in business in Newark from circa 1885-1935, died Nov. 1939; his business moved several times and this studio address is one of several known locations.)
====
One of a group of photographs in this accession related to the Sanntrock family which lived in Hoboken from the later part of the 19th century until the early 20th century. Consisting of images of first and second generation German immigrants, the group reflects their German heritage and culture in fashions and content (some photographs are from Germany, apparently of relatives.)
