Drives to collect scrap materials were a major school activity in World War Two. The girls above participated at the Joseph F. Brandt Junior High School at the corner of Ninth and Garden Sts. in Hoboken. It was, at the time, an all-girl school for grades seven to nine. The donor, Katharine Marinovich Moebes, is in the photo, but has not identified herself. She personally collected 400 pounds of paper.
