Billhead: We Sell Davis' O.K. Baking Powder. Issued for use in 1890s. Undated sales receipt imprinted for use from 1890-1899 (note printed dateline: 189_.) Single leaf printed two sides, 4" wide x 6-7/8" high. Blank and unused. Item was probably provided free to Davis customers, shopkeepers and retailers, for use in routine transactions and served Davis for promotional advertising. Front has a line-cut depiction of a one quarter pound Davis O.K. Baking Powder can with printed label. It does state R.B. Davis but no city is shown. New York was the sales office, but the product at this time had been made and shipped from Hoboken for several years. (See notes for full text printed on this side.) Back has a facsimile autograph letter of April 16, 1886, from Dr. R. [Robert] Ogden Doremus, Professor of Chemistry and Toxicology, Bellevue Hospital Medical College, New York. It is a statement (or endorsement) from him that he has tested the product and it is harmless. ---- promotional / advertising

Notes: Text on front: We Sell Davis’ O.K.Baking Powder BECAUSE it is skillfully prepared under the immediate supervision of competent chemists, by which the consumer is protected against any and all mistakes commonly caused by lack of knowledge of the material used. BECAUSE the Acid Phosphate it contains is manufactured by a specially improved process, insuring a higher state of perfection and purity, the entire output of which is used in the manufacture of DAVIS’ O. K. BAKING POWDER. BECAUSE it never fails to produce the most satisfactory results and is sold on its merits without perpetual and extravagant advertising, which must always he paid for by the consumer. AVOID many inferior brands selling at the same price, and represented as “just as good.” Perfection and wholesomeness are insured only by the use of DAVIS' O. K. BAKING POWDER. DAVIS' O.K.
