Digital image of color photo of the eastern facade of the Hoboken Terminal just south of the abandoned ferry slips, Hoboken, Sept., 1999. Original print 4" x 6". Photograph taken by Leon Yost.
The view is looking northwest. This section is southern end of what was commonly called the Hoboken Ferry Terminal and last used for large ferries in 1967. (There are small ferries operating at this time from docks just south of the terminal.) This area has not yet been restored, but at the upper left can be seen some new copper facade. At the right is the start of the ferry slips. New Jersey Transit offices occupy the space in the building at the center that has a communications tower behind it.
The Hoboken Terminal was known as the Lackwanna or Erie-Lackawanna Terminal. The interior of the waiting room has only been recently restored by New Jersey Transit, the current owner and operator of the train terminal.
