Photograph
Digital image of color photo of a wider aerial view of the passenger train shed and yard at the Hoboken Terminal, Hoboken, Sept., 2002. Original print 4" x 6". Photograph taken by Leon Yost.
The view is similar to photo 2002.240.0024 but has more of the river shore to the southlooking southeast with New York City in the background. At the headend of the passenger shed is the waiting room. At the middle right are the walkway and station platforms under construction for the Hoboken station of the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail system that opened a month later in October 2002. At very right edge is the west ventilation tower for the Holland Tunnel with scaffolding and netting around it. The street north of the train yard is Observer Highway.
The Hoboken Terminal was known as the Lackwanna or Erie-Lackawanna Terminal. New Jersey Transit is the current owner and operator of the train terminal.
