Clothespin bag used to hold clothespins when hanging laundry on an outdoor clothes line. Hoboken, no date, circa 1950-1990. Two each with over 100 wood and 11 plastic clothespins. Sewn dark floral print fabric circa 18" high x 12" + 10" wide with drawstring (missing on one.)
Typical domestic items once common in Hoboken when laundry lines were in the backyards of most homes or smaller apartment buildings. Location where these examples specifically used is not indicated. Although stated as for exterior use, laundry in small quantities may have been hung indoors as well. Exterior wash may also have been put on rooftop lines.
Clothes pins come in several styles and sizes: single piece wood, flat and round; two piece flat wood with metal spring; plastic two piece with metal spring in various colors. The larger plastic pin has a maker's name: Mastro.
