We, the Policemen and the Firemen of your city, ask you to vote us this increase in pay because: FIRST. We are underpaid. SECOND. We have a right to a living wage. We are not getting it. THIRD. We and our wives and children have a right to a decent home under decent living conditions. With our present salary this is no longer possible. FOURTH We have to pay for our own uniforms and many things necessary to our vocation. When these expenses are deducted from our pay what remains does not constitute a living wage. FIFTH. The Policemen and Firemen work all hours and face all risks. We do extra duty without extra pay or overtime. DO WE DESERVE A SQUARE DEAL? IF YOU THINK SO VOTE “YES ON ELECTION DAY.
