The reverse has a patent date of 1898 so it could not be earlier than that date. Mayoral elections range from 1901 to 1912. (In 1915, because of a change to a commission form of government, the mayor's office was no longer a directly elected city official until 1953.) Fallon was never elected Mayor, but he did serve in an appointed city position as the Corporation Attorney. Whose "choice for mayor" is not indicated.
