DescriptionHardwood pantograph, model 1149, made by Keuffel & Esser Co., N.Y. No date, circa 1910-1930s. Wood bars (5/8" wide x 3/16" thick; 2 at 21" long; 2 at 19" long) overall length closed: 21" long x 2" wide; open size in use variable, but circa 14" x 26" is typical;, drilled holes marked with numerals and ratios. Nickel plated metal mountings; two removable screw-eyes for adjusting pivot point for ratios; tracer point of pointed wood with metal pin tip. Lacking: original pencil; metal anchor stand or bracket (as seen in catalog page drawing); direction sheet; original box. Stamped with manufacturer's name, logo and model number. A device used in drafting and design work. This model designed for reducing or enlarging in 18 ratios. It was the least expensive model produced by K&E. It appears in 38th edition 1936 catalog and is gone by the 40th edition in 1944. K+E factory was in Hoboken during the period of when they were made.
