Photograph
Black-and-white photo of Public Service Railway of streetcars west of the Hudson Place Terminal loading platform, Hoboken, no date, ca. 1910-1911. 8" x 10" wide print. Printed label on reverse. Original image is from Francis Collection, Negative No. 526, North Jersey Electric Railway Historical Society, Rahway, N.J.
Caption reads: Hudson Place Terminal, Hoboken, NJ, PS Ry Cars 903, 591 & 701.
The view is looking west from the terminal with Hudson Street in the background and the Hudson & Manhattan Railroad maintenance building at the left. This area is now a parking lot.
The Terminal Building, 68-70 Hudson St., is in the right background. Under construction and already has "The Prudential" Insurance Company sign atop it. This sign would have a later addition of the "Rock of Gibralter" logo. The building was completed in 1911.
The Eagan School of Business, 66 Hudson St., is the building to the left of it. At the left of the Eagan School is 64 Hudson Street, the location of the German Seaman's Institute from 1907. It gradually expanded to include the buildings at 60 and 62 Hudson St. The offices of the Bellejrijisches Journal were at 60 Hudson Street and notes a date of 1852 at the top. Two banners advertise "Job Printing" and "The Engineer" (presumably a trade publication printed by them.)
The corner of the Hotel Victor can be seen at the right edge.
